Things to do in Chicago - John Hancock Observatory
Designed by structural engineer Fazlur Khan , this 1,127-foot skyscraper is the sixth-tallest in the country. The 100-story building includes not only restaurants and offices but also is home to seven hundred condominiums regarded as the highest residences to live in the world. The Hancock Observatory placed at the top of the skyscraper is a comarable alternative to the views offered by Sears Tower. There is a little difference between the two monsters, while The Hancock Center is situated in the commercial district the Sears Tower occupies the financial district. Special meshed-in area within the building allows the visitors to feel the gusts of wind as high as 1,030 feet (314 m) above ground level. Exactly on on the 95th floor, apart from admiring picteresque views of Chicago and Lake Michigan you can simply enjoy dinner. The building is a member of the World Federation of Great Twers. Because of its distinctive style, it has also received multiple awards like the Distinguished Architects 25 Year Award in May 1999.
