Things to do in Chicago - Garfield Park Conservatory


This one of the world’s largest indoor gardens is truly a botanical gem has been home to rare species of plants, colorful bulbs, annuals, perennials, and flowering shrubs for almost hundred years.  It has thousands of  flower varieties and offers a display that shows what Chicago was like when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Eight interconnected greenhouses are divided by climate, ranging from the abundant life of the moist fern room to the odd alien forms living in the desert.The Conservatory is currently undergoing a revitalization through various programs. Volunteers of all ages are looked for share their skills and help develop the place. As a teacher, you may lead your group  through the Conservatory’s collection without additional cost or enrich your class’ life by experiencing the unique and exotic plant collection that can be  found at this one of the world’s largest conservatories. Most of all, conservatory is a tremendous attraction to bring family members of all ages. There is always something new to discover and to make your stay more enjoyable  they present special educational opportunities for everyone. The conservatory rotates flower displays with the seasons, and features a springtime plant and seed sale and an autumn harvest fair.
